The Prince of Pennsylvania (1988)

In the tradition of Sixteen Candles this poignant tender and very funny film tells the story of Rupert Marshetta (Keanu Reeves) a high school dropout struggling to find himself in a small Pennsylvania town. An offbeat inventor Rupert is stuck working in the coal mines with his father (Fred Ward, "Short Cuts") and longs for the heart of Carla (Amy Madigan, "Field of Dreams") the beautiful and more romantically-experienced owner of the local drive-in.
