They are those films in which their protagonists are related to the Amish Community or in which this group has a vital importance in the plot. These films generally show the main characteristics of this religious group as:

• Lifestyle and simple clothing similar to the eighteenth and nineteenth century.
• Rejection of modern comforts and technology such as telephones, televisions, photographs, cars and electricity, which is why it is common to use carriages or carts pulled by horses.
• Closed or isolated communities and Pacifist and worker behavior.

There are Amish communities in various parts of the world, mainly in the United States (in the states of Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania), and also in other countries such as Germany, Canada and Mexico and, to a lesser extent, in Argentina, Ireland, Spain, Colombia and Bolivia.

At present there are some Amish communities that accept a minimum level of some technologies such as tools, tractors, use of a public telephone for emergencies, etc., as long as they preserve and strengthen their communities.
