Donald Duck is a character created by Walt Disney and Dick Lundy for Disney Studios. His first official appearance was on June 9, 1934 in the short film "The Wise Little Hen".
Donald Duck usually wears a sailor suit and hat and almost never wears pants, except when he's swimming. He has a special way of speaking: usually his voice is an unintelligible croak.
Unlike the hero Mickey Mouse, Donald is a prankster character who constantly tries to prank those around him, he is quite irritable, lazy, clumsy, unlucky, adventurous, but fundamentally arouses people's sympathy.
Donald's most famous relatives include his three nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie (Hugo, Paco and Luis in Hispanoamerica and Juanito, Jaimito and Jorgito for Spain) and his maternal uncle Rico McDuck (the richest duck in the world).
Over the years, various members of the family have appeared in series and movies and this has given rise to an extensive genealogy:
- Pascual (Donald's cousin).
- Daisy (his girlfriend of his).
- Della (twin sister).
- Hortencia (his mother of him).
- Quackmore (his father of him).
- Ludwing von Pato (his uncle of him).
The first short film as the protagonist was released on January 9, 1937, called "Don Donald". In this short film, viewers met, for the first time, the love interest for Daisy.
During World War II, Donald Duck made several short films on the theme of war and the army, among which "Der Fuehrer's Face" stands out, in which he plays a worker in a munitions factory. This short film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
