Chinese-Japanese War (II)

The Second Sino-Japanese War is considered the largest Asian war of the 20th century. The war was the result of the consequences of the First Sino-Japanese War, in which Japan was the victor, and of the Japanese imperialist policy. During the first years, Japan managed to take control of the main cities of China such as Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai, also occupying the northern provinces such as Hebei, Shanxi and Shandong. He conquered Nanking, which was the capital of China at that time. Then there is the Battle of Wuhan, which according to estimates more than a million soldiers, from both sides, lost their lives. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the Sino-Japanese War merged with World War II. With the weakening of the Japanese forces on multiple Pacific fronts and after the Chinese victory at the Battle of Hunan in June 1945, a successful Chinese counteroffensive was carried out in southern Guangxi Province.

Three days after the United States dropped the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and defeated the Japanese army in Manchuria. On August 15, 1945, Japan surrendered, ending the Second Sino-Japanese War and ending the occupation in China.

Over the years, numerous war films and other genres have been made that show part of the events of the Second Sino-Japanese War, encompassing war or historical films, such as films in which the narration takes place during that war period. . The countries that have produced the most films on this subject are China, Japan and Hong Kong, each from its perspective on the war.
