Despite not winning in the Best Supporting Actor category, he did win the statuette for Best Actor, becoming the sixth performer to obtain both nominations in the same edition in those categories.
Composer Alan Menken completed a historic double by winning two Oscars for the second year in a row. His compositions for the film "Aladdin" earned him the statuettes for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "A Whole New World." With this achievement, Menken joined a select group of three people who have achieved this double in consecutive editions.
